A large industrial studio hall with tall windows and stacked panels leaning against the wall.

I work from a former chandlery on the north quay, ten minutes from where the container ships turn.

The paintings start outside as rubbings, notes and small oil studies, usually in bad weather. In the studio they get taken apart again. A canvas is finished when the last thing I did to it was remove something rather than add it.

Three ways to work together

Everything below runs through the studio directly, apart from exhibitions, which the gallery handles.

A heavily loaded painter's palette, thick with mixed greys, blues and ochres.

How a commission runs

Four stages, one fixed price agreed before any paint is mixed.

01

Visit

We meet, in the studio or by video, and talk about the room, the light in it and what you actually want to live with. No cost, no obligation.

02

Proposal

You get it in writing: scale, palette direction, two or three small studies on paper, a schedule and a price that does not move afterwards.

03

Painting

The work gets made. I send progress images at three agreed points. Between those points I ask for room to work without checking in.

04

Installation

Framing, crating and shipping are arranged by the studio. Anything over 180 cm I hang myself wherever the distance allows it.

Questions people ask first

If yours is not here, write to the studio and you will get a real answer, usually within two days.

Enquire
01 How long does a commission take?

Four to seven months from the signed proposal. Oil needs time between layers and I will not rush that part. If you have a hard date, say so at the first conversation and I will tell you honestly whether it fits.

02 Can I choose the colours?

You choose a direction and I choose the mixes. We agree the range at proposal stage using studies on paper, so nothing arrives as a surprise. What I cannot do is match a fabric swatch exactly, because oil shifts as it cures.

03 What does a painting cost?

Commissions start at 14,000 EUR and scale with size. Available work from finished series is priced individually and listed with each piece. Editions start at 380 EUR. Framing and shipping are quoted separately.

04 Do you ship outside Europe?

Yes. Work travels crated and insured through a fine art shipper. Canvases over 200 cm are usually shipped off the stretcher and restretched on arrival by a conservator, which I arrange and you approve first.

05 Will you repaint an existing work?

No. If a sold painting is the reason you got in touch, tell me which one and what you respond to in it, and the commission will come from the same territory without being a copy of it.

06 How do I look after the surface?

Keep it out of direct sun and off a damp wall. Dust it with a dry soft brush, never a cloth, because raw pigment sits proud of the linen. Every painting leaves the studio with a care sheet and my number on it.
